PRM SIGMA 42

The PRM-SIGMA 4.2 permits lossless mixdown of the (master) outputs from two mixing desks, the levels of which can be adjusted within a wide range, to (for example) a PA system. This is a requirement that is frequently encountered in discos when DJs and live bands appear in alternation and both use different mixing desks in conjunction with the house system. The advantages are readily apparent. For one thing, the DJ and his mixing desk are no longer dependent on the main desk. For another, loss of sound quality due to feeding the signal from one mixing desk into the other is avoided. As detailed below, the PRM-SIGMA 4.2 is also equipped with a few additional useful functions that you have surely always missed in „normal“ line mixing desks.
Two stereo outputs are available. Besides the balanced professional XLR inputs, Channel A is also equipped with balanced jack inputs; if mono jack plugs (TS plugs) are used, the input automatically becomes unbalanced. Additionally, there are two cinch (RCA) inputs on the front. By virtue of the use of high-quality stereo ground-loop isolators, the inputs are always galvanically isolated: ground loops are ruled out. The levels are individually adjustable L/R. A switch with an LED indicator makes it possible to mute the channel. Using a monitor switch, it is possible to monitor the channel. Channel B is identically equipped, with the exception that only XLR inputs are available here. The maximum channel amplification is 20 dB. This makes it possible to give more than enough boost even to weak mixing desk output signals. The output section contains a five element LED display for L/R each, a headphone amplifier with volume control and two unbalanced cinch (RCA) outputs that permit recording of the sum signal. The master outputs are transformer-balanced XLR sockets. The nominal output level can be toggled between +6 dBu and –20 dBu. Except for the recording outputs, all inputs and outputs are equipped with ground-lift switches. Additionally, it is possible to isolate the case from the electronics ground.
