"Volbeat. One word. One band. An unmistakable sound. A unique approach to music."And so begins the description of the band on their homepage and it has nothing to do with arrogance, but rather, in our opinion, with an honest description of themselves."
With the creation of the Danish Band Volbeat in 2001, lead vocalist and guitarist Michael Poulsen fulfilled his desire to break new musical ground. Together with the other founding members Kjølholm (Bass), Teddy Vang (guitar) and Jon Larsen (drums), they created a unique sound, mixing genres such as Punk, Rock 'n' Roll, Rockabilly, Metal, Heavy Metal, Trash metal, as well as Country. In addition, there is also a significant influence from the King of Rock 'n' Roll himself, Elvis Presley, which explains why their style is popularly known as "Elvis Metal".
After two demos and reaching the semi-finals at the largest Danish Music Competition "Live contest", Volbeat achieved a breakthrough with their first album "The Strength / The Sound / The Songs" and made a successful appearance at the Roskilde Festival. The album rose to number 18 in the Danish charts; from then on, their popularity grew steadily to the point where Volbeat became a support act on Metallica's European tour and later had their own tour.
Five albums later, the Danish band has well and truly established itself as a permanent feature on the metal scene. In 2013, the former Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano became a full member of the band; with him on board, the current album "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" was produced, which has already gone gold twice over and now platinum. In the autumn of 2014, Volbeat embarked on a large North American tour.
"I use the Palmer PDI03 live every night these days. It really works great in conjunction with my Fryette (cabs) back line and it enables me to get a clean crushing sound out to our FOH guy without all the mic bleed and noise that comes along with playing in a loud Rock & Roll band.... Volbeat is LOUD on stage!!!" - Rob
"I have been using Palmer Speaker Simulators from day one with VOLBEAT. The band have always been very picky with their sound, and as an audio engineer you want consistency, so you know that you can get your artist’s dream sound every night, all night. The Palmer boxes give me the perfect tool to get that fat guitar tone every night, without having to compromise on it because of bleed from "over the top" stage volume or mics shifting position on the guitar caps. The Palmer Speaker Simulators are my go to guitar tool every time, all the time." - Mads Mikkelsen (FOH)
